Newsletter 17  Porsche Club Mexico GTC & Drive / 4 Vientos
The Porsche Club Mexico organized a get together and drive to
4 vientos as part of their yearly activities.

The newly opened Puebla Region decided to join our fellow friends for this very exciting day.

We had an excellent time with our fellow friends of the PCM and we got to enjoy our Porsches for well over 500 kms, what else can I say, lets check out the action !!!

Everything started early in the morning at Porsche Puebla...
...My Boxster is ready for the 350+ mile trek...
We were joined by Miguel Lorenzo at the first toll outside Puebla...
...and we headed to Cuautla...
...after Cuautla we arrived to Cocoyoc where Fernando Bayo and Jesus Lopez would join us...
...Puebla Region complete and ready to go...
...look at this guys go... BTW this is a two way road...
...very demanding road up hill... passing was most challenging...
...extremely close and fast...
...and so we headed to Cuernavaca...
...on the Cuernavaca highway we encountered heavy traffic...
Approach 1- Let the big Cayenne open the way...
Approach 2- Let the bright Speed Yellow 911 lead and open the way with its Bi-Xenon lights...
Approach # 2 seemed to work best... I'll just stick to the 911 tail...
...and so we reach yet another toll... we are now close... I know...
Now put attention to this: After the toll booth and due to repairs we were taken on to the wrong way of the highway which they didived with cones...
...my first instinct is: its slalom time !!! Fernando Bayo sees me on his rear view mirror and follows...
...this was lots of fun !!! we did for a few kms. !!!
...thumbs up, we have arrived !!!
...the obligatory group photo... from L to R: Fernando Bayo, Jesus Lopez, Misael Lopez, Yours Truly Frissen Gutierrez, Alan Bayo and Miguel Lorenzo.
Now its time to check the Puebla Region's rides...
Fernando Bayo's, Porsche 911 (997) Carrera S.
Miguel Lorenzo's, Porsche 911 (996) Carrera 4S.
Yours Truly, Frissen Gutierrez, Porsche Boxster (986) 2.7L.
Jesus Lopez, Porsche Cayenne (955).
A few minutes later the PCM arrived...
Lets check out some of their cars...
The President's Porsche. Jorge Rios Hellig's, Porsche 911 (993) Carrera 4.
The Ex-President's Porsche. Sergio Nieto's, Porsche 911 Turbo (930)
A very exciting array of Porsche cars I might say...

Now lets check out the intruders...
Ferrari F355 Spider. Nice lines and engine sound...
Ok. ok, wait !!! What are all these Porsche guys all excited about over here ?!?!?!
I'm about to find out... its the new E60 M5... mmmmhhhhhh....
F1 derived V10 engine sounded dull, Reliability still to be proven.
Bangle's best lines don't do justice to the amount of technology the ///M Technik department input into the new M5. The car is hiddeous !!!
After a hearty breakfast at 4 Vientos it was time to head out to the little colonial town of Taxco...
Lining up to start the journey...
I see all the "hot" cars in front of me, Turbo 964, GT3, 996TT, F355, Bayo's 997 and last but not least, Miguel Lorenzo's C4S... mmmmhhhh...
I'm being followed by Jesus Lopez's Cayenne and a 987 Boxster owned by the only lady member of the PCM...
See, I told you, those were the "hot" cars... how am I supposed to deal with this when I'm driving a meager 2.7 Boxster ??? Nonetheless I follow closely...

Winged Carreras...
Leaders missed the exit to Taxco, dazed and confused I get to pass them...
...last time I will see them on my rear view mirror...
...told you... "see ya' in Taxco"... marvelous engine sound out that F355...
..."excuse me"... not caring much about the yellow lines and the obvious turn, I decided to pass the 987.. its on the way of the action...
...extremely demanding roads... I mange to keep up with the action... my only sight... winged Carreras...
Allright, we have arrived... vey nice view... Carreras included...
...only one street town and we got lost... Sergio Nieto and I found a place to park and figure out where we were going... see the PCM decal on my wind deflector? nice touch I might say...
...we found this non-member Cayenne S, now is time to join in my friend... he looked astonished with almost 30 Porsche scattered parked along the street...
...we found decent parking at last... notice I'm quite far from that idiotic Focus right there...
The colonial little town of Taxco...
The view from the funicular...
It was time to head back and do it all over again, just in the opposite direction...
If you kept reading all the way to here and your are thinking; how come I am missing all this fun? Well maybe is because you haven't joined The Porsche Club Mexico, that is why. So, if you are a Porsche owner sitting at home I seriously encourage you to join the PCM and join the fun.

As for me, I'm signing out, I hope you liked my report, I sure had fun...
